Timothy Duggan, chair of the Bankruptcy & Creditor's Rights group, was interviewed in the October 24, 2005 edition of NJBIZ magazine. The interview, "Spotting the Snares in the New Bankruptcy Law," discusses the federal Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005 that recently went into effect, which will make it harder for financially strapped consumers and businesses to get a fresh start by filing for bankruptcy.

Question: I have a customer who owes me approx $600. I took them to SCcourt and they did not show up. I had a default judgement entered. To get a judgent I need a Proof of non miltary service which you need a SS# for. I dont have their SS#. I filed theft of service and the judge found no probable cause. I call their home, office and cell # often trying to collect my money. I have call at all hours of night and day, sometimes 25 times to talk to someone. No one answers and if they do, they hang up as soon as they know its me. Now they have filed harrasment charges on me for calling as often as I had been, trying to collect money owed for which I took then to SC court , won a default for them not showing and now I am the bad guy....Sometimes I think the system is broke...
