A. Christopher Florio Appointed to Community Association Institute's Board of Directors

A. Christopher Florio, Co-Chair of the Firm's Community Associations Group, has been appointed to the Community Association Institute's (CAI) Board of Directors. The CAI's board makes policy for the non-profit organization which represents the interests of hundreds of community associations throughout the state of New Jersey. CAI is very politically active in both its support of and opposition to legislation affecting community associations in New Jersey. Mr. Florio also serves on the CAI's political action committee.

Do you have information you can share on Homeowner's Association Kelly Laws? Specifically, municipality's responsibility to maintain roadways including snow removal and street light service or to reimburse Association for costs of same. Please advise.

Thank you for your comment. You can read the statute online - The cite is NJSA 40:67-23.2.

The act essentially requires a municipality to either reimburse, or provided certain services to, a qualified community association. Those services include removal of snow/ice, garbage, leaves, recyclables, and cost of street lighting. Municipality only obligated to provide or reimburse the above if it does so for other residents within a municipality as part of the tax structure.
